Michael J. Kator was appointed to the Commission in June 2002.
Commissioner Kator holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a managing partner at Kator,
Parks & Weiser in Washington, D.C. His practice focuses on civil rights and federal employment law, and his trial and appellate
work has spanned state and federal courts, including several cases before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Commissioner Kator has served as the general counsel for the Metropolitan D.C. Police Boys and Girls Clubs. Currently, he is
the President of the Inwood House Development Corporation, which provides affordable housing to individuals with disabilities
and other special needs.
Commissioner Kator was elected Vice Chair of the Commission in 2005 and Chair of the Commission in 2007. His term expires in
August 2008.
