Sally Roman was appointed to the Commission in 2007.
Commissioner Roman brings a wealth of experience in housing issues to the Commission. She previously served as a Master Planner for Housing and Demographics in Montgomery County's Department of Park and Planning and served as the Department's lead planner for housing issues. Ms. Roman retired from the Department of Park and Planning in 2002.
From 2003 until August 2007, Ms. Roman worked as a consultant on housing, planning and demographic issues. Most notably, Ms. Roman worked closely with Montgomery County Council staff to update the Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) Law. She also worked closely with staff from the Department of Planning to update a study on the need for senior housing in Montgomery County.
Commissioner Roman is an active member of the community. She served as President of the League of Women Voters from 1981 through 1983, and is currently a member of the organization's Housing Committee and Co-Chair of the New Americans study of immigration issues in Montgomery County.
Ms. Roman is a former Council member of the Chevy Chase View Special Taxing Area (now an incorporated town). She also served as the Acting Chair of the Montgomery County Ethics Committee, of which she was a member in the mid 1980s.
Ms. Roman was elected Vice Chair of the Commission in 2011. Her term expires in 2016.
