POSITION TITLE:

 

Trades Maintenance Worker II

Tanglewood Apartments, Silver Spring, MD

DESCRIPTION & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position is responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of HOC housing units.  Will maintain, repair and perform alterations to heating and air conditioning systems.  Correct electrical, plumbing, carpentry, appliance and minor structural problems.  Check and repair pipes, pumps, boilers and furnaces, and keep logs.  Maintain supplies and parts for building.  Rehab vacant units as needed.  Respond to emergency calls.  Maintain security of building.  Maintain keys to apartments and key boxes.  Perform other related duties as assigned.   

 

Requires high school or equivalent and a minimum of three years housing/building maintenance experience.  Must have working knowledge of HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and electrical systems, and the ability to deal tactfully, effectively and courteously with the public and co-workers.  CFC certification required or the ability to obtain certificate.  Willingness to share on-call duty for emergency maintenance necessary.  Must be able to speak, read, and write English.  This position requires the ability to keep simple records, lift heavy objects (50 – 100 lbs.), climb ladders (in order to repair roof, gutters, downspouts), install electrical fixtures, toilets, sinks, etc.  Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
