POSITION TITLE:

Family Resource Center Director

Washington Square, Gaithersburg, MD

 

DESCRIPTION & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  The Family Resource Director is responsible for supervising FRC staff and providing crisis intervention, information and referral and counseling services to residents of a public housing community of over 75 households.  Will oversee coordination of programs, activities and center services.  Will develop programs and activities for children and adults, coordinate programs with non-profit and government agencies and prepare, maintain and revise reports in a timely manner.  Will work as key part of a Family Sites team.  Responsibilities also include transporting residents to programs and activities in an agency vehicle.

 

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Recreation or related field (MSW preferred) and a minimum of three years experience in Social Work or Counseling and two years of supervisory experience.  Must enjoy working with children and teens.  Must have knowledge of dynamics of human behavior, program planning and community resources. Ability to relate well to people with diverse backgrounds and cultures.  Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, have the ability to work independently and exercise good judgment; good computer skills (Word & Excel), a good driving record and transportation required.  Must be willing to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.  Non traditional experience and Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
