POSITION TITLE:

Resident Counselor III, MetroPointe

Resident Services, Wheaton, MD

 

DESCRIPTION & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position provides Information and Referral (I & R) services and counseling services to residents of the MetroPointe community or any assigned site.  Will design, operate or coordinate program activities for children and adults in the property’s community center and/or provide oversight of programs and services conducted by external public/private agencies.  Will establish rapport with property residents, make assessment of needs and assist with supportive services to meet resident’s needs.  Such needs may include medical, social services, resources for children, or assistance to avoid loss of housing.  Will prepare a monthly or quarterly community newsletter to publicize upcoming community events or information.  Work closely and collaboratively with property management to provide crisis intervention services and other assistance to maintain high quality environment.  Work as a team member with other counselors within the Resident Services Division.  Must utilize one or more HOC databases to ensure ability to track client’s housing and service history.  Maintain files and prepare monthly reports.

 

Requires a BA degree in Social Work or related field and a minimum of three years experience in social services (MSW preferred).  Must be able to plan programs and must have familiarity with community resources.   Must exercise good personal judgment and maintain high ethical and professional standards. Good oral and written communication skills & good computer skills required.  Must have a car and a valid driver’s license.  Ability to drive an Agency van and travel within Montgomery County is required.  Must work occasional evenings and weekends.

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.  Low income residents in Montgomery County with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply.
