POSITION TITLE: |
Resident Counselor III – Financial Literacy |
|
|
DESCRIPTION & MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: This position develops and implements a
broad range of activities to increase financial literacy among low-income
residents living in HOC housing or participating in the Housing Choice
Voucher Program. Particular emphasis
will be placed on assisting residents with financial awareness as a means to
achieve self sufficiency or to avoid eviction. Will develop informational materials for
distribution and/or use materials from various groups to strengthen
understanding of personal money management including building assets,
managing bank accounts, developing a savings plan and setting realistic
personal goals through budgeting.
Conducts individual and group sessions on credit education, credit
repair and other pertinent issues related to financial literacy. Partners with various financial
institutions, landlords, management firms and others to help ensure the
availability and accessibility to valuable information and financial
resources on a regular basis. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from
an accredited university and a minimum of three years experience in the field
of financial counseling, financial management, or business administration. Certification
as a Financial Counselor preferred. Must possess excellent oral and written
communication skills, multicultural sensitivity; good computer skills (Word, Excel
and software related to Financial Management), a good driving record, and
transportation required. Bi-lingual preferred. This is a one-year Term position with benefits and is
based on funding. Funding has been
continuous. An equivalent
combination of education and experience may be accepted. Low income residents in HOC conducts criminal background
checks, employment reference checks, and where applicable, reviews driving
records in determining suitability for employment. Selected applicants will be required to
submit to pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Employment is contingent upon drug and
alcohol test results. |
