  • Administrative Aides
    Be an integral part of the day to day operations in our offices. Serve in an office at HOC answering phones, filing, entering computer data, typing, photocopying, help with mass mailing. Location: Kensington and Gaithersburg.
  • Class Instructors
    Provide small group instruction in keyboarding, basic computer skills, money management, bookkeeping, English language, GED preparation to participants in HOC’s Employment Initiative Program. Weekdays or evening classes. Training provided. Two to four hours a week commitment for eight weeks. Location: Various sites in Montgomery County.
  • Homework Club Tutors
    Assist children with homework assignments in an after-school program. Location: Family Resource Centers in various subsidized housing communities in Montgomery County.
  • Housing Information Officer
    Serve in a busy Housing Information Office responding to telephone, and computer queries regarding housing resources in Montgomery County. Four hours a week commitment. Location: Kensington
  • Mentors
    Serve as a volunteer case manager to an adult participant in HOC’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program. 4 hours a month commitment. Volunteer mentors must be age 25 or older. Training provided.   • Senior Companions
    Provide friendly visiting services to elderly Public Housing residents. Assist residents with mail, errands, and provide companionship. One hour a week commitment. Location: Silver Spring, Rockville, & Bethesda.
  • Tutors
    Provide individual instruction to adults who are working towards economic self-sufficiency. Tutors are needed for GED preparation, English, Math, Sciences, and Computer Skills. One hour a week commitment. Location: Various sites in Montgomery County.
  • Youth Activity Leaders
    Coach a team, teach a craft, or share an interest with a group of children at one of HOC's Family Resource Centers. Two hour a week commitment. Location: Gaithersburg, Germantown, Olney, Silver Spring.
