Shelter Plus Care
The Shelter Plus Care Program provides
permanent subsidized housing units for 45 households who have been
homeless and are chronically mentally ill.
To be eligible for the
program, households must be homeless and have a diagnosed disability.
Candidates for Shelter Plus Care are drawn from participants in
Montgomery County
Department of Health and Human Services programs for the homeless.
Case managers recommend households to the Mental Health Association, who
assess those households and make final referrals to Shelter Plus Care.
HOC can only accept referrals from this organization.
There is no process for applying for Shelter Plus Care on your own or
applying for a referral.
