FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Susan Krimer Yancy Friday, August 13, 2004 301-962-5505 NEW TO THE COUNTY’S AGRICULTURAL FAIR: “AFFORDABLE LIVING IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY” INFORMATION BOOTH Housing Information Booth Designed to Help Visitors Find Affordable Homes in Montgomery County The Housing Opportunities Commission, in partnership with other local housing organizations, is featuring a housing information booth at this year’s Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. “Our booth is aimed at anyone looking for affordable, decent housing in Montgomery County,” said Susan Yancy, HOC’s Assistant Director for Legislative and Public Affairs. “Many apartment buildings in Montgomery County set aside a certain portion of their units as affordable. We’re trying to bring that information to the public.” The booth, which was created in partnership with the County’s Housing Fair Planning Committee, will feature information from a variety of housing organizations in Montgomery County, including: Victory Housing, Montgomery Housing Partnership, the Department of Housing and Community Affairs and others. Fairgoers can visit the “Affordable Living” booth – booth number A 41-43 -- at the Fair from August 13 through August 21, 2004. The Housing Opportunities Commission is also sponsoring a booth on home ownership at the fair. Fairgoers can learn about HOC’s first time homebuyer’s program by visiting the booth in the “A” section of the fairgrounds.
