About the Exhibit

  •       “Through My Eyes” exhibits the work of 12 young photographers who belong to two photography clubs sponsored by the Resident Services Division of the Housing Opportunities Commission. The clubs,  “Capture” and “Young Eyes,”  began in March 2007 and  were started by Carrie Buttrey, youth counselor at Emory Grove Village and Camp Hill Square, two subsidized housing communities in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

  •      One photograph from each student has been entered into a photography competition that will be judged by a panel that includes local Montgomery County photographers. The winners will be announced at the August 1, 2007, Housing Opportunities Commission meeting. Each winner will receive a new digital camera.
  •      HOC is grateful to Ritz Cameras for their assistance in helping the students improve their photography skills and to the National Capital Optimist Club for their donation of funds to support the clubs.
