RE:  Tony Davis Memorial Scholarship

Dear Students/Parents:

The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) is pleased to   announce the fourth year of the Tony Davis Memorial Scholarship Award Program which provides two $5,000 scholarships annually for deserving Public Housing and/or Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) residents who are graduating from high school as of June 2005.

Tony Davis was a Trades Maintenance Worker for HOC who came to work for the agency in March 1998.  He lived at Middlebrook Square in Germantown, Maryland as a live-on staff person.  He volunteered as a coach and counseled many children in the community. Mr. Davis also worked hard to improve the image of the community, eradicate drug use and be a positive role model. Mr. Davis tragically died on Sunday, October 22, 2000. Since then, the Middlebrook Square Family Resource Center was renamed the Tony Davis Family Resource Center. In addition, the Commission has established these scholarships to further recognize the work of an outstanding employee, father, and community leader.

Funds will be given directly to the schools the selected students plan to attend.  Enclosed is an application.  Completed application materials must be sent via U.S.
