Who is Eligible?
Public Housing is limited to low-income families and individuals. The five eligibility requirements for admission to public housing are:
Qualifies as a "family" (may be single or family, elderly, or disabled)
Has an income within the income limits developed by the U.S. Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
Each member of the family is a citizen, national, or non-citizen who has eligible immigration status.
Provides documentation of Social Security numbers for all family members 6 years of age and older
(or certifies that they do not have one)
Each family member who is 18 years of age or older, and each family head and spouse regardless of age, signs
consent authorization documents.
If you are eligible, HOC will check your references to make sure you will be good tenants. HOC will deny admission to any applicant whose
habits and practices may be expected to have a detrimental effect on other tenants or on the project's environment.
