Supportive Housing
Program
The Supportive Housing Program provides subsidized
housing, case management and extensive services to 170 previously homeless
households in nine different programs funded by Montgomery County and
HUD. Seventy-six (76%) of the program "permanent" units are for
households with adults with disabilities while the remaining 24% are
transitional units for families who remain in the program for up to two
years.
Who’s Eligible
Households must have been in a homeless situation and
for five programs must have a disability. Exclusively County Health and
Human Services’ staff makes referrals for seven programs. Referrals for
one program for people with disabilities are made jointly by County staff
and Community Ministries. The Baptist Home for Children and Families and
Community Ministries makes referrals for another program for people with
disabilities.
How to Apply
In general, homeless households should be utilizing County Health and
Human Service services for the homeless prior to being referred by
eligible partner agencies listed above. HOC staff maintains information
concerning program openings.
