Community Reinvestment Act
Meeting your requirements

The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) is a banking regulation enacted in 1977, which encourages financial institutions to meet the credit needs of their local communities. HOC encourages financial institutions to enter into partnerships with HOC that enable the achievement of CRA goals. HOC has worked successfully with a number of lenders to structure relationships that serve low and moderate income households and fulfill the mutual goals of the lender and HOC.

Such relationships have included: Investment in Tax-Credit Partnerships; Favorable line of credit provision; Origination of mortgage loans to low and moderate income homebuyers; training assistance to low and moderate households in budgeting and preparation for homeownership; and assistance in marketing loan programs and financial assistance to first time homebuyers.

Because credit withdrawal is not typically a problem in Montgomery County, emphasis is placed on extension of credit at more favorable terms than the norm and on non-compensated technical and training assistance in serving low and moderate income residents.
