to the Development Process
The Housing Opportunities Commission is committed to developing properties in Montgomery County with full input from the community. HOC develops and acquires housing in the context of the countys existing statues and policies. Open forums provide opportunities for public input during the process.
The following steps are followed by HOC when considering the purchase or development of housing properties in Montgomery County:
HOC negotiates to buy property
A development feasibility study is initiated
A contract for the building is signed
HOC sends letters and fact sheets to community leaders and residents
Information is posted on HOC's website
HOC runs legal ads in two newspapers (Journal and Gazette)
HOC staff holds meetings with residents and community leaders to get feedback
Members of the public may send written testimony to the Commission
A public hearing is held at which members of the community may testify before the Commission
Members of the public may send letters to the Commission
The Commission determines whether to proceed with the development
If the Commission decides to proceed, financing is secured
HOC buys the property
