The overall purpose of the Resident Advisory Board RAB is to assist the Housing Opportunities Commission in carrying out its responsibilities by bringing the resident’s voice to deliberations and decisions. The RAB was founded February 18, 1985 and has developed a set of by-laws which govern its internal operations.
The membership of the RAB consists of a representative(s) from each of the housing programs where HOC has ownership or management responsibilities, and now there are three members representing the Housing Choice Voucher Program. However, the majority of RAB members must reside in public housing units. To date, membership has not included representation from properties which are managed by third-party management firms.
