MY BACKGROUND IN POLICY, TEAM BUILDING AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT ALLOWS ME TO BE A PRODUCTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL ADDITION TO THE BOARD. HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO USE MY EXPERIENCE TO DO MY PART AND CONTRIBUTE TO MY VETERAN COMMUNITY AS WELL AS OTHERS.

I have extensive experience working with residents, property managers, and community boards through my role as Director of Operations for a local exterior restoration company serving condominium and homeowner associations throughout Montgomery County. In that capacity, I regularly communicate with residents, address concerns, coordinate projects, and work collaboratively to find practical solutions that balance community needs and available resources.

As both a resident and a parent, I understand the importance of safe, well-maintained housing and ensuring that residents have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their daily lives. I am seeking a position on the Resident Advisory Board because I believe strong communities are built through transparency, communication, and resident involvement. I would welcome the opportunity to represent the interests of fellow residents, advocate for improvements that enhance quality of life, and help foster constructive relationships between residents and management. My goal is to listen, bring forward resident concerns thoughtfully and respectfully, and contribute to positive outcomes that benefit the entire community.

In addition, my experience as a ballot worker with the Montgomery County Board of Elections taught me the importance of serving the public fairly, professionally, and respectfully. I regularly assisted hundreds of voters and provided translation support for Amharic and ASL-speaking community members, ensuring that everyone could access important services regardless of language barriers. I believe effective representation begins with listening. If selected, I would make it a priority to hear directly from residents, understand their concerns, and advocate for solutions that improve their housing experience. I am particularly passionate about supporting residents who may not have responsive housing specialists or who feel their concerns are overlooked. My goal would be to ensure that every resident has a voice and feels empowered to be part of the conversation surrounding their community.

Business Administration is my area of expertise. I have been in customer service for over 25 years of my life. I do not have any experience in being on a board member group for anything like this however, my customer service savvy experience will help me to become a good board member to speak for other HOC residence. I work well with the community and I am also going to become a commission notary for Montgomery County so this position will also be a great benefit and a steppingstone for a success.

My over 25 years in customer service background whether it’s in person or over the phone or being in the medical field, I feel that I would be good with the Community. Good to speak on HOC residence behalf and for me to be well aware of what’s going on around my community I can speak with my community. My community knows me and I’m also going to become a commissioned notary for the Montgomery County so this position will definitely be a steppingstone for a success in my future and I can definitely speak on behalf of other HOC residence.

My background I’m qualifications are in property management. I work as a leasing professional at the front office conducting tours do a market surveys move-in move out all of those things. I recently did a transition in career path. I am currently studying data analytics so I haven’t quite gotten a job position in that field as of yet, but I am still currently taking class courses for certification.

While the voucher program provides critical housing assistance, many families continue to encounter barriers when searching for available units, navigating the leasing process, and competing in a challenging rental market. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to advocating for policies and practices that expand housing opportunities and improve access to quality housing throughout Montgomery County.

I also recognize that both HUD and HOC are facing a period of significant change as new regulations, funding considerations, and program requirements continue to emerge. As these changes are proposed and implemented, it is important that the perspectives of voucher holders remain part of the conversation. I wish to continue serving as a strong advocate for Housing Choice Voucher participants by ensuring that policy decisions are evaluated for how they affect the families who rely on these programs every day.

I have been an advocate from Montgomery County Food Council for over 10 years. I also advocated the General Assembly for seniors and low income individuals. Being on it fixed and come it’s very important that we are able to express the difficulties, the pros and cons of our situation as seniors and fixed income individual. I have been a TBV voucher for many years and ported to numerous locations as a voucher tenant. Through this experience, I have become very knowledgeable in both federal and local PHA operations, including homeownership possibilities. I have previously had a Real Estate License and intend to obtain it here in Maryland. I would like to help myself by helping others and I believe I could do so effectively.

Since relocating to Montgomery County, I have found that there is a severe lack of knowledge among realtors regarding the programs for voucher holders. Every time I toured a rental property, it was necessary for me to educate the agent. Once I have my realtors license again, I would be in a better position to help. If chosen as a member of the RAB, I would be a great advocate as I am already aware of numerous shortcomings causing unnecessary difficulties.
