Job Description:

Consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC), the Senior Communications Associate develops and executes communication projects and initiatives for internal and external audiences, including staff, customers, stakeholders, partners, and the general public. As a member of the Legislative and Public Affairs team (LPA), employee creates communications materials through information gathering; develops key messages; writes and edits communications; consults with creative team members on the execution of visual designs; and collaborates with divisions and project stakeholders. Employee plays a lead role in social media content development and management. Employee also coordinates marketing activities for HOC programs and properties in cooperation with HOC staff, as well as produces news releases and other external communications pieces for review..

Preferred Skills:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or Marketing or related field.
  • Requires a minimum of four years of experience in the communications, marketing or affordable housing industries.
  • Must have knowledge of advertising or news media organizations.
  • Must have knowledge of Word and Desktop Publishing.
  • Must have experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Must have the ability to analyze and evaluate information.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse population.

Knowledge of government programs is helpful.
