EFFECTIVE: TUESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2020 until all funds have been expended.

The Montgomery County Homeownership Assistance Fund (“McHAF”), a partnership between the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County’s (“HOC”) Single Family Mortgage Purchase Program (“MPP”) and Montgomery County, Maryland (the “County”), will provide to eligible Maryland first-time homebuyers purchasing a home in Montgomery County a deferred Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance loan granting up to 40% of the household’s qualifying income for a maximum of $25,000. This is the second allocation of $1 million being provided by the County.

If you're ready to take advantage of this special program:

  • Talk to a HOC Participating Lender and Check Your Eligibility - Your lender can help confirm your eligibility for the McHAF and HOC’s MPP, and will make sure you meet all the requirements.
  • Please note that being eligible does not guarantee approval. Lenders will take into account things like your income, credit history and employment situation.
