The Resident Counselor III HRD/FSS provides case management, counseling and referral services to participants in the Family Self Sufficiency program. Counselor will conduct skill assessments using software package and assist program participants with establishing long and short-term goals. Provide participants with education/job training resources and job readiness skills. Counselor must have knowledge of employment related support as to assist participant with removal of financial and socio-economic barriers that may impede their ability to become self-sufficient. Must obtain Family Self Sufficiency certification within six months of hire. This is a one-year full-time term position; job continuation is based on funding.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide case management, counseling and referral services to a minimum of 50 cases.
  • Provide participants with education/job training resources and job readiness skills.
  • Identify, coordinate services and monitor monthly progress towards participant self-sufficiency goals.
  • Complete and submit weekly report on activities and services provided to families.
  • Recruit new participants to achieve and maintain 100% program utilization rate.
  • Conduct orientation briefings for new applicants.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in development services or case management.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field

(MSW preferred).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to relate well to people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Must have good computer skills (Word & Excel).
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and vehicle is required.
  • Must obtain Family Self Sufficiency Certification within six (6) months of hire.
