The Resident Counselor is a professional position and will provide intensive trauma informed case services to residents who are county referred homeless, disabled individuals, and or families. Case management will provide linkage with available community resources for furnishings, moving costs, security deposits, application fees, etc. Will assist participants with lease arrangements and requirements for lease compliance; perform general unit inspections and develop a service plan based on initial and periodic needs assessment. Liaison with local landlords and various County service providers. Serves as a team member of the Supportive Housing Program and works cooperatively in meeting the unit’s goals. This position requires traveling to client’s homes to conduct home visits.
Essentials Duties & Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with aging processes, elder services, and disability services.
- Understanding of eligibility criteria and procedures for federal and state entitlement programs.
- Knowledgeable about community resources.
Knowledge and Skills Needed:
- Knowledge of community resources
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals who are homeless.
- 3+ years of case management experience, specifically with low-income, culturally diverse adults.
- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting adults with mental health disabilities.
- Proficient in computer skills, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong assessment, oral, and written communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driving record and license, with personal transportation required.
- Bilingual preferred
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field
