Join us for a three-part fiber arts series exploring the calming art of knitting. Participants will work with colorful yarn, learn beginner techniques, and create an original piece in a supportive group setting. No knitting experience is needed. All are welcome to learn and create at their own pace.
An ongoing yearly bingo event series for Forest Oak Towers residents that occurs twice a month on Thursdays. This event promotes socialization for older adults while also having fun, refreshments, and prizes.
Residents will enjoy the opportunity to make their own hot chocolate, have winter snacks and desserts, and participate in holiday games in which they can win prizes.
Grade-level math worksheets provide targeted practice aligned with school math standards, helping students master core operations and build problem-solving skills. Students will receive a new worksheet each week, which will be graded the following week. We will also provide an answer key so students can review and correct their mistakes. Please note that this program focuses on practice questions and does not include tutoring.
HOC, in cooperation with the TACY Foundation, will be opening enrollment for our weekly Saturday children's piano classes at Tanglewood. These classes are designed for children ages 5 to 14. Each fun 30-minute session blends rhythm games, basic note reading, and hands-on keyboard fun. Space is strictly limited, so please register as soon as possible.
Join us for a three-part visual art series inspired by the bold colors and creative spirit of The Washington DC Color School artists, including Gene Davis, Sam Gilliam, and Alma Thomas. Participants will explore color, brushwork, and acrylic painting as they create artwork that reflects their own style. No art experience is needed. All are welcome to explore and create at their own pace.
Do you need know how to find and navigate available resources? Resident Services will host monthly resource sharing sessions monthly. This is an opportunity for participants to learn about available resources in Montgomery County and at HOC to include food resources, wellness, financial assistance resources for emergencies, employment, tuition assistance, etc. The sessions are offered on the third Tuesday of each month in the evening. Staff will provide information on how to navigate services. This will also provide a space for participants to inquire about their resource needs. In addition, this will be an opportunity for participants to learn about the services offered by the Resident Services Division. You must register online to participate. Registered participants will receive virtual instructions.

Everyone needs safe, decent and stable housing. This interactive workshop focuses on the agency’s mission in keeping residents housed in the various housing programs that the Housing Opportunities Commission offers. The workshop attempts to
empower participants with information that will assist them in being successful with housing, combining effective strategies and information on available resources that can
help a resident to successfully maintain his/her housing. Participants will develop a better understanding of his/her housing program, guidelines and the rights & responsibilities
