Dare to Dream Inc. (DTD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized communities through entrepreneurship, mentorship, and education. We believe in fostering innovation, leadership, and problem-solving skills in young women, particularly in the ESTEAM fields (Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). This proposal outlines a transformative panel event and workshop designed to inspire young girls to create business solutions for pressing ESTEAM-related challenges.
A virtual workshop hosted by HOC to educate potential participants about the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program, which aims to help low-income families increase their earnings, build assets, and ultimately achieve economic independence by providing access to services like job training, education, financial literacy, and childcare, while also explaining how the program works, eligibility requirements, and the benefits of participating.
The program will provide five weeks of high-quality swim lessons and swimming equipment for low-income students in Montgomery County. Students will see increases in life-saving swimming skills, comfort around water, self-confidence, and social skills. Please contact Datrina Childers at aewd@hocmc.org to apply for your spot. Need to know how to find and navigate available resources? Resident Services will host monthly resource sharing sessions. This is an opportunity for participants to learn about available resources in Montgomery County and at HOC, including food resources, wellness, financial assistance resources for emergencies, employment, tuition assistance, etc. The sessions are offered on the third Tuesday of each month in the evening. Staff will provide information on how to navigate services. This will also provide a space for participants to inquire about their resource needs. In addition, this will be an opportunity for participants to learn about the services offered by the Resident Services Division. Must register online to participate. Everyone needs safe, decent and stable housing. This interactive workshop focuses on the agency’s mission in keeping residents housed in the various housing programs that the Housing Opportunities Commission has to offer. The workshop attempts to empower participants with information that will assist them in being successful with housing. The workshop combines effective strategies and information on available resources that can help a resident to successfully maintain his/her housing. Participants will develop a better understanding of his/her housing program and guidelines and the rights and responsibilities outlined in a lease. Must register online to participate.
