Over the course of two weeks, 15 middle school students will: Map their passions and define a purpose-driven business idea, explore fundamentals of marketing, budgeting, and customer discovery, collaborate in creative workshops — prototyping, branding, and pitching, Receive one-on-one mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs. By the end of camp, each camper will present a polished mini pitch and walk away with the tools, confidence, and community support to turn their dream into reality. This four-day summer fun program includes Science Experiments, Reading/Story Telling, Arts & Crafts, Games, and Stem Activities. On Friday, July 18, participants will attend a field trip to Butler’s Orchard in Germantown. Afterwards, participants will culminate their fun and learning with a Pizza Party. Please Note: T-shirt sizes will be requested for each participant upon registration completion.

Need to know how to find and navigate available resources? Resident Services will host monthly resource sharing sessions. This is an opportunity for participants to learn about available resources in Montgomery County and at HOC, including food resources, wellness, financial assistance resources for emergencies, employment, tuition assistance, etc. The sessions are offered on the third Tuesday of each month in the evening. Staff will provide information on how to navigate services. This will also provide a space for participants to inquire about their resource needs. In addition, this will be an opportunity for participants to learn about the services offered by the Resident Services Division. Must register online to participate. Registered participants will receive virtual instructions.

This interactive workshop focuses on the agency’s mission in keeping residents housed in the various housing programs that the Housing Opportunities Commission has to offer. The workshop attempts to empower participants with information that will assist them in being successful with housing. The workshop combines effective strategies and information on available resources that can help a resident to successfully maintain his/her housing. Participants will develop a better understanding of his/her housing program and guidelines and the rights and responsibilities outlined in a lease. Must register online to participate.
