Be the Best Father You Can Be

There is no instruction manual for how to be a great dad, but the Fatherhood Initiative Program can help get you there.

The Housing Opportunities Commission’s Fatherhood Initiative Program seeks to strengthen families by strengthening fathers. Participants gain practical, real-world insights into all aspects of being a father, including:

  • Responsible Parenting
  • Healthy Relationship Education
  • Employment Stability
  • Mobility and Case Management

Since its launch in 2016, HOC’s Fatherhood Initiative Program has served more than 1,300 fathers in Montgomery County. It has awarded approximately $500,000 in education/vocational training to over 600 fathers.

Learn From the Best – And Each Other

The Fatherhood Initiative Program offers a critically acclaimed curriculum developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative. While enrolled in the program, fathers will develop relationships and create lifelong bonds with other parents. The skills fathers gain through participation in the program can help them develop healthier relationships with their children. They also have access to continuing adult education and workforce development resources and have the opportunity to become certified in a variety of specialty areas. Participants receive a certificate of achievement upon successful completion of the program.

The Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) is the first Public Housing Agency ever awarded the Fatherhood Initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families.

Begin Your Better Fatherhood Journey

The Fatherhood Initiative Program is open to any father who:
